Abstract: As of 2012, the GIZ office in Gaborone will be responsible for cooperation with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Botswana. Botswana is adversely affected by its high HIV infection rate. The Government also faces the immense challenge of diversifying the economy, as mining (diamonds, ores and coal) currently accounts for more than 65 per cent of its export revenue. Germany is providing support to Botswana in the following areas:
*Vocational training
*Natural resources management
*Road safety
