Gallica is the virtual library of the National Library of France. Through its African collection you have access to the accounts, photographs etc of travellers to / exploreres of Africa. The virtual library holds 900 text documents (partly whole books in full text), 30 journals, 80 maps, 20 hours auf audio material and 6,500 photographs. Julia Winckler, member of the Heinrich-Barth-Society, published a multimedia presentation about Heinrich Barth in cooperation with the University in Brighton: The project "Retracing Heinrich Barth" follows Barth on his journey through West Africa (Niger) and shows films, videos and pictures about the sites he visited and people remembering him. The multimedia show also presents anthropological and historical results in research as well as personal records of Barth's journeys.
