First it seeks to produce a language atlas showing the geographical location of the Tanzanian languages, number of speakers for each language, and the genetic classification of the languages in question. Second, the project will produce a series of descriptive studies which will document the grammar and vocabulary of each of the languages spoken in Tanzania, excluding the already well-documented Swahili.
