The DISA project collects historical documents on the history of South Africa (partly also of other African countries, see e.g. Oral Histories/Interviews). Among others, you will find the full text documents of more than 40 anti-Apartheid journals that are difficult to access otherwise. Unfortunately, you can only browse the collection by resource type, and not e.g.by topic or year. Nevertheless, you can also search for specific documents with keywords etc. DISA also hosts other projects, currently these are: Durban in Motion (Virtual Exhibition and Digital Archive), SAMAP (South African Musical Achricve Project, with currently five collections) and the Centre for Visual Methodology. ... Gallica is the virtual library of the National Library of France. Through its African collection you have access to the accounts, photographs etc of travellers to / exploreres of Africa. The virtual library holds 900 text documents (partly whole books in full text), 30 journals, 80 maps, 20 hours auf audio material and 6,500 photographs. In the year 2002, furthermaterial was meant to be added. You have four possibilities of access: free search of the catalogue, browsing via geography, topic and journals.
