The Ushaidi Platform can be used for information collection, visualization and interactive mapping of a specific topic. It was created as a tool for documenting the post-electoral violent events in Kenya 2008. Meanwhile, a number of other initiatives in Africa use this platform. "Working together with the Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) in East Africa, DIES („Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies“) supports the project aimed at establishing a regional quality assurance system in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Training measures for the newly-installed quality assurance coordinators have been held at 47 universities since 2007. (...)
