Homepage of the project Mountain Voices, which was led within the Oral Testimony Programm of the Organisation PANOS London. The site offers extensive information through interviews with mountain people around the world, including the African countires Lesotho, Kenya and Ethiopia. You need to register (free of charge) to have access to the transcription and / or summaries of the interviews. You can browse for topics occuring in the interviews. For every country, there are two publications that can be dowloaded for free as a pdf, one local language booklet (Southern Sotho / Sesotho, Sabaot, Amharic) and A selection of the oral testimonies. Furthermore, tehre is a glossary for every langauge conatining the most important words and their translation, extensive information about the project itself, about the regions analysed, the interviews persons etc. ... The Life Stories Programme (formerly Oral Testimony) offers you an insight into people's opinions and ways of seeing things, whereas usually you would only read writings about them and not from them. People are talking about poverty, about desert life, about HIV/AIDS or resettlement. You will find a lot of information, resources and downloads for free.
